In life and of course in property transactions the art of negotiation is extremely important. So what does it take to be a good negotiator?
Mike Chalmers is a serial entrepreneur, so a lot of what he does relies on the ability to think on his feet and maximise opportunities as they present themselves. Over 20 years he built, then ultimately sold a highly successful national merchandising business, AddValue, where the ability to negotiate the best deal with suppliers around the world and also with clients on the other end was critical. He is also an active property developer, where the same skills on both the buy and sell side are essential. Mike operated, for several years as a qualified real estate Buyers’ Agent, for both homebuyers and property investors. Finding and negotiating the best possibel deal is in Mike’s DNA, so this led him to then establishing his current business – Buyologists.
At Buyologists, Mike lends his negotiation expertise to businesses and other organisations, to help them save money by negotiating better deals with their key suppliers. This is all underpinned by degrees in both Economics and Commerce, where he first learnt the relevant principles and theories, before getting out into the real world and putting it all into action.
Mike also trains and mentors business people in negotiation skillls and how to secure the best deal, and contributes in this area for various newspapers and magazines.
Attendees of his presentation not only admire Mike’s knowledge but also his energy, passion and honest reflection on the benefits and downsides of being an entrepreneur.
Mike will share with us some of the key essentials to effective negotiation, and then focus on strategies to help you secure the right property at the right price.
