Real Deals by Adelaidians making great Money from Property …
This month we are thrilled to have Jill and Belinda and Pam Keirns share their Property investment Journey
Jill and Belinda started buying properties in 2012 and now own 10 properties, 8 of which they have renovated and rented for positive cash flow. They will share their insights gained from completing these projects and details on their ongoing returns.
Belinda works full time as an Aeromedical Intensive Care Retrieval Nurse for MedSTAR kids retrieving critically ill babies and children in helicopters, planes and ambulances. MedSTAR retrieves children and babies from all over South Australia and surrounding borders including Alice Springs. MedSTAR also regularly transfers critically ill babies and children for complex heart surgery to Melbourne as South Australia does not have the numbers to support the expertise for this type of surgery. Over the past 7 years Belinda has also worked as a negotiator, renovator, bookkeeper and general make everything happen allrounder for their own property portfolio.
Jill was a Fitter and Turner by trade and over time worked her way up to management in the engineering field. In 2005 Jill went into a joint venture and purchased a foundry that produced cast metal components predominately for the mining industry. This company was very successful, riding on the back of the mining boom. However, forecasting downturns in the industry due to cheap imports flooding the market Jill decided to close the business down and sell the property in 2013. For the past 7 years Jill has worked with small businesses assisting them with systems, processes and management. During this time Jill has also focused on the property market completing a Diploma of Property Services (Real Estate) and extensively researching the subject. Jill also worked as a renovator, planner, accountant, engineer and allrounder fix everything roll for their property portfolio. Jill currently works part time as General Manager of Halls Cranes.
Our Second speaker is Pam Keirns – a seasoned property investor. With >10 years’ experience in project management, she understands the planning system working with Council, regulators, professionals and contractors to make housing projects happen.
Pam will present a project that she bought in Melbourne with a Joint Venture partner, buying and demolishing a 200m2 commercial site and developing 4 new houses and a small office for huge profits.
With a Masters in the Field Of Sustainable Communities & Environmental Management she interned with an NGO in rural India on their community engagement with poor villagers to get buy-in (literally!) to build their own water supply and sanitation.
Pam is championing new and better ways to develop housing. It really is possible for developers to do some good while making strong, low risk returns. Good housing design and urban design are key to enabling people to be independent yet connected no matter what their age. Mental-wellbeing is directly linked to feeling connected and included.
